Weight training places a lot of stress on the muscles, tendons and in particular the tissues found within the joints. Curcumin and nettle leaf extract are exciting botanical extracts long used in traditional medicine and recently studied more widely due to their ability to modify inflammation in the body. Whilst short term inflammation, even in the joint is a good thing and part of the healing process, chronic inflammation is not, causing pain an unhealthy changes in the inflamed tissues. Curcumin works by altering the production of pro inflammatory eicosinoids – the body‘s messenger of inflammation and nettle leaf extra reduces the body‘s production of the pro inflammatory TNF-α molecule. Together they help to cool inflammation and quell the pain.Vitamine C and zinc have been included as both micronutrients are vital for the optimum production of various kinds of connective tissues including those found in bone, joint capsule and cartilage.
