Alkalos A + B 2 x 60 tablets

Alkalos® is a nutritional supplement based on Calcium Citrate, Potassium, Magnesium and Vitamin D3.

Recent international medical literature showed how our changed dietary habits, characterised by excessive consumption of proteins and fat, tend to shift our metabolism toward an extreme acidic load. This “acidifying” tendency, if prolonged, can contribute to kidney stones formation or osteoporosis development. To understand how an exceedingly “acid” diet can threaten bones, we need to remember that calcium alkaline salts located in our skeleton are one of our main “base” reserve. Continuous extraction of calcium, tested during metabolical acidosis, can eventually lead to a bone mass reduction particularly after menopause, since amongst the changes induced by oestrogens shortage, we have a tendency for a systemic acidosis condition. Treatment for the early stages of osteopenia and osteoporosis is presently accompanied to a calcium and vitamin D supplement. Recent studies confirmed this approach is paramount, but also showed the necessity for a correct acid-base balance in our nutrition. A diet high in basicvalence plays, in fact, a very important role in bone metabolism. A balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle represent the best approach to osteopenia and osteoporosis prevention. Considering this, should nutritional habits or lifestyle be not appropriate the GP might prescribe Alkalos® to supplement a diet lacking calcium and vitamin D, improving at the same time magnesium and potassium levels. Calcium, magnesium and potassium are in alkaline form (citrate) to allow a correct acid – base balance.

• Bottle A. Tablets contain 250mg Calcium in citrate form and 300 Ul Vitamin D3
• Bottle B. Tablets contain 263mg of Magnesium citrate (equal to 3.5mEq Magnesium) and 715mg Potassium citrate (equal to 7mEq potassium).

• Bottle A. Unless advised otherwise by your GP, 1 tablet in the morning on an empty stomach to facilitate calcium absorption. Swallow the whole tablet with some water.
• Bottle B. Unless advised otherwise by your GP, 1 tablet in the evening to facilitate an adequate opposition to metabolical acidosis, normally stronger at night. Swallow the whole tablet with some water.

• 1 Bottle containing 60 1.4g tablets containing Calcium citrate and Vitamin D3 (Case A).
• 1 Bottle containing 60 1.28g tablets containing Magnesium citrate and Potassium citrate (Case B).
