Hair loss is a very common and widespread problem , which involves a significant part of the population.
It is estimated that in Italy it affects, in one of its forms, a large part of the adult population.

Although it is a typically male problem, the latest statistics show that more and more women suffer from weakening and hair loss, even if due to different causes than men.
Hair loss in women is usually a transient phenomenon, but in some cases it may not be. In general, hair loss may be due to an inherited genetic predisposition such as androgenetic alopecia.

In fact, in humans, by genetic predisposition, the sex hormone testosterone is transformed into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT causes the hair growth phase to be shortened and less hair to grow back than hair that falls out. Typical of this type of hair loss, for example, are the so-called receding hairline that extend more and more causing a progressive retraction of the hairline.

In women, androgenetic alopecia more easily affects subjects who have cases of female relatives in the family, with thinning hair.
Even for women, androgens seem to be the main culprits of this phenomenon.

Although the amount of these hormones is significantly lower in women, as a result of menopause, advancing age and other factors, their number increases causing greater hair loss.

In both men and women, in addition to heredity, other factors may also play an important role, such as: stress, drugs, seasonal changes, nutrition, hormonal imbalances or changes (menopause-post pregnancy) and even zinc deficiency.
