YAMAMOTO® RESEARCH
Yamamoto® Research Oculevis® Oculevis® is a food supplement that provides 210 mg of marigold extract and 10 mg of bilberry extract per daily dose. The extracts of marigold * and bilberry * have an antioxidant action and contribute to the well-being of sight. Ocular health and visual efficiency are very delicate factors to which due attention should be paid over time . We are not just talking about degenerative problems or pathologies due to advancing age, we keep in mind that the eye is constantly subjected to numerous stressors and solicitations from the surrounding environment, just look first at the lights and solar radiation. To carry out its visual function in its maximum efficiency, our eyes need nutritional elements that allow them to support and regenerate their sensory elements, the photoreceptors located on the retina called rods and cones. The former are responsible for day vision, while the rods are specialized for night vision. With modern life, the intensive and prolonged use of computers, screens of various devices, including televisions, smoke and environmental pollution, etc. has brought out the need to have more and more eye health care, bearing in mind that to all this, there are age-related ocular degenerations, see age-related macular degeneration and the opacification of the lens (called "cataract"). To protect itself from too intense light, the ocular apparatus uses various protective systems, such as eyelid blink, pupil changes, lens screen and retinal ocular pigments, namely lutein and zeaxanthin, which are means of protecting nerve cells and filtering from light. In this regard, the importance of taking lutein and zeaxanthin which are the main carotenoids contained in the central area of the retina (macula) has recently come to light. Lutein is an eye pigment capable of filtering light and thus protecting the retina from the harmful effects of light radiation, and we find it in green or yellow vegetables, such as broccoli, cabbage, spinach, pumpkins, and peas. Zeaxanthin is another important carotenoid for the eye, a yellow pigment that we find in green leaves together with chlorophyll, which appears very visible in autumn deciduous leaves, but highly present in foods such as maize, orange juice, mango and egg yolk, which, together with carotene, contributes to color. Today in the treatment of eye diseases, antioxidants are increasingly recommended and used thanks to their adjuvant role in therapies or prevention very important and confirmed by clinical research. In degenerative pathologies that advance over time, such as the opacity of the vitreous body and lens, cataracts, oxidative stress has a strong impact with the formation of free radicals, where to counter them today more than ever, we have these precious weapons in this case of elements with high antioxidant power, among which we find lutein and zeaxanthin, which intervene in slowing down the degenerative processes given by free radicals. Together with lutein and zeaxanthin, bilberry is known to contain a series of antioxidant microelements that are precious for sight "anthocyanins", natural pigments belonging to the class of "flavonoids" and which give blueberries their blue-purplish color ( as well as the vitamin C content). The dry extract of the berries, titrated in anthocyanins, is able to improve night vision and the restoration of visual acuity following exposure to intense lights. The anthocyanins of bilberry act on retinal enzymes, in particular on lactate dehydrogenase, increasing the regeneration speed of retinal pigments, which accelerate the regeneration of rhodopsin, the photosensitive pigment of the retina that splits under the effect of light. Thanks to this process, the time of adaptation of the eye to darkness is reduced. Clinical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of the anthocyanins of the bilberry on the photomotor reflex of the pupil, inducing a more effective response of the reflex, already evident after only two weeks of treatment. In addition to the power of this adaptation, bilberry is known to be able to combat fragility and excessive vessel permeability, thus showing a well-demonstrated capillary-protective action both at the level of peripheral blood vessels but also against the retina. OCULEVIS® is the new Yamamoto Research supplement specifically indicated to support and protect the health of our eyes, and makes use of precious nutritional elements, such as Lutein, Zeastaxanthin, through the prestigious FloraGLO Lutein patent with the presence of bilberry extract to promote further the antioxidant, regenerating and microcirculation effect. * FloraGLO Lutein is a famous clinically tested patent, and was the first lutein brand introduced in the global market where it has been dominating for over twenty years, making use of the most prestigious and significant studies on the matter. FloraGLO Lutein is a marigold flower extract, which provides a highly absorbed lutein form, found in foods such as kale, spinach, corn and peppers. FloraGLO is the most famous lutein-based product ever and has demonstrated its effectiveness in protecting the eyes from visible light, or known as "blue light" and its clinical validity in an innovative study on ocular health and related diseases related to age (AREDS2).
