YAMAMOTO® RESEARCH
Yamamoto® Research Omega-3 IFOS™ - Dietary supplement

OMEGA-3 IFOS™ is a food supplement based on concentrated fish oil, indicated for adults and rich in Omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-3 IFOS™ is a food supplement based on concentrated fish oil, indicated for adults and rich in Omega-3 fatty acids. The product provides EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), which contribute to maintaining normal blood pressure (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of EPA and DHA), maintaining normal blood triglyceride levels (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 2 g of EPA and DHA) and normal cardiac function* (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg of EPA and DHA). In addition, DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and physiological vision (beneficial effects are obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA).

Yamamoto® Research Omega-3 IFOS™ is rich in IFOS-certified 5-star Omega-3 fatty acids and is the benchmark product in the fish oil Omega-3 market.

It is a purified and concentrated 5-star IFOS-certified fish oil in triglyceride form, providing per serving (4 softgels) as much as:
4,000 mg of concentrated fish oil
of which EPA 2234 mg
of which DHA 916 mg

What is fish oil? Where does it come from?
Fish oil is an oil rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, obtained from fatty fish such as sardines, mackerel and salmon.
Its production process involves two essential steps: the extraction of the oil from the source material and its purification.

What is fish oil purified from?
In addition to omega-3 fatty acids, fish oil contains a variable number of compounds such as hydrocarbons, long-chain alcohols, waxes and esters, which can affect its properties.
While purification removes all undesirable substances, it must ensure that the desired components are not damaged in any way.
The final product is a source of concentrated long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids to provide high doses of EPA and DHA.

What does this mean in triglyceride form?
Fish oil with Omega 3 is available in two types: from triglycerides or from ethyl esters.
Fish oil from triglycerides is in its natural form, and has a much higher bioavailability than Omega 3 from ethyl esters.
This means that EPA and DHA in fish oil with triglycerides can be absorbed in greater quantities and utilised more effectively by the body than they can in fish oil with ethyl esters.
One study showed that Omega 3 in the triglyceride form resulted in 71% greater absorption than that from ethyl esters.
Another study found that free fatty acids, in the form of triglycerides, were absorbed 400% more than ethyl esters.
In addition, fish oil with ethyl esters oxidises, and therefore degrades, much more quickly and easily than fish oil with triglycerides.

What does IFOS™ certification mean?
The most well-known quality certification is the IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards) mark. IFOS is essentially an analysis protocol issued by an independent body (Nutrasource Diagnostic inc.) based at the University of Guelph in Canada, which has the most expensive and advanced technology needed to test the quality of Omega 3.

Based on the results of the tests, IFOS assigns a quality score to Omega 3 and publishes the results of the tests conducted in its laboratories in its database (consumer reports).
Today, there are hundreds of Omega 3 supplements available on the market, but very few manage to obtain IFOS certification. An IFOS-certified product is therefore a guarantee of absolute quality, at the top of its category.

The IFOS database can be accessed by anyone at any time, so it is always possible to check whether or not the brand of the supplement you are interested in is present, and also whether or not the production batch of the Omega 3 package you are about to buy is directly present.
If the batch is present in the IFOS database, we can be sure that we have purchased a pure, uncontaminated supplement without any risk to our health.
