In the growing panorama of dietary supplements for sportsmen and women, an increasingly important trend is emerging, relating to improving the complex processes of muscular and neuroendocrine recovery.

Among these elements, Tart Montmorency Cherry Extract has recently emerged, thanks to an interesting and specific literature in its favour. It has a concentration of anthocyanins with very high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory power, which translates into an acceleration of the recovery process for the athlete, understood as a decrease in inflammatory and oxidative markers, faster recovery from muscle and joint pain, and more effective rest. Factors that put you in the most ideal condition to resume physical activity.

Tart Cherry Extract is an extract with very interesting beneficial properties derived from a particular form of the rather light coloured sour cherry/cherry, the 'Montmorency cherry' species, which grows or is cultivated in defined parts of the world.
The potential benefits of this extract originate from the numerous phytochemicals found in this 'berry', the first of which emerged in relation to the treatment of gout, being able to lower uric acid levels, to the point of having clinical literature pouring over various other possible nutraceutical application scenarios. This is thanks to a high concentration of polyphenols and anthocyanins, which has encouraged interest in research into their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunostimulant and neuroprotective powers and in promoting more restful sleep.

Emerging data show several valuable potential health benefits in the area of performance as well, thanks in particular to 'anthocyanins', which characterise the light red pigment in the skin. Anthocyanins are also present in various types of berries, such as raspberries and blueberries, or even in apples or grapes. But this 'powerful' type is an exclusive component of Montmorency cherry extract (cyanidin-3-glucosylrutinoside, cyanidin-3-rutinoside, peonidin) which are also capable of acting in synergy with other flavonoids it contains (quercetin, chlorogenic acid, kaempferol) and boosting their effects.

The first characteristic of these anthocyanins is that they are powerful antioxidants which, as well as promoting cellular health in general, are also potential elements in maintaining cardiac health, with neuroprotective effects, whose synergistic anti-inflammatory action has shown them to be a new supplement in favour of faster recovery of muscle function after intense exercise, and in knowing that they promote performance itself, as well as helping to produce more endogenous melatonin, thus also effective in improving the quality of sleep, another fundamental element in an athlete's recovery. In recent years, TartCherry Extract has received a great deal of positive research data from sportsmen and women on the fact that it can be a real natural aid in speeding up recovery processes, strength and muscle function after muscular activity, helping to relieve post-exercise pain and osteoarticular pain and stiffness, helped by its anti-inflammatory effect in addition to its antioxidant effect.

The suggestion is to use it after training or in the evening, when the whole body is 'in position' for the recovery and healing processes, although the extract from this 'special' sour cherry can also be used directly to prolong performance and encourage greater blood flow to the muscles, thus promoting oxygenation, nutrition and the removal of acidic waste generated by exercise.
