MRM’s Gluten Aid™ is an enzyme blend developed to assist the digestion of foods containing gluten and dairy proteins.*
Sensitivity to rye, wheat, barley, and dairy can be attributed to the incomplete digestion of certain peptides found in gluten and dairy protein.*
These partially digested peptide fragments can lead to inflammation of the intestinal lining, bloating, malabsorption, and/or gut permeability.*

Dipeptidyl Peptidase IV (DPP IV) is one of the enzyme activities necessary for the breakdown of these peptides.

Gluten Aid™ has a protein digesting blend that contains three proteases that combined effectively break down these peptides.*

Carbohydrate digesting enzymes, a crucial addition to any gluten digesting supplement, facilitates the breakdown of the starches and fibers that surround the gluten protein.

Lactase has also been added to further aid in milk lactose digestion during consumption of dairy foods.

How it works
Digestion is the physiological process of rendering the food we eat into the beneficial nutrients our body needs.
Enzymes are small proteins and are categorized by their specific activity into proteases (protein digesting), carbohydrases (carbohydrate digesting) or lipases (fat digesting).
Quality enzyme products are only as good as their performance or strength of enzyme activities, which is not merely measured by milligrams, but measured in the laboratory using compendial methodologies to describe their individual biological activity.

Proteins consist of single or multiple polypeptide units, which are long chains of amino acids connected through peptide bonds. Peptides are short chains of amino acids that occur during the breakdown of polypeptides chains into amino acids.

Gluten-Aid™ contains three proteases from plant and fungal sources that are active in a wide pH range of 3 to 9 at body temperature and in the presence of moisture.
Proteases can hydrolyze protein to various amino acids.
The activity across a wide pH range is important as the product starts working immediately in the low pH of the stomach and continues to work in the higher pH of the small and large intestines.

Gluten-Aid™ contains a wide range of powerful carbohydrate digesting enzymes that help breakdown the starches that are commonly found in gluten containing foods and can contribute to the difficulty of degrading the inflammation inducing peptides from gluten.
This can allow exposure of the gluten peptides giving the proteases better access to cleave the gluten peptides more efficiently than without these added carbohydrases.*

Amylase and glucoamylase break down carbohydrates, starches and sugars that are prevalent in potatoes, fruits, vegetables and snack foods.
Lactase aids in the digestion of lactose, the primary sugar found in dairy products and milk.
It is very useful for individuals suffering from lactose intolerance.
Cellulase breaks down fiber found in fruits and vegetables aiding in the ability to absorb their precious nutrients.

Beta-glucanase digests plant polysaccharides for general nutritional support of high starch foods.*
Hemicellulase digests components of plant fiber that no human enzyme can for improved access to gluten peptides.*
Xylanase digests xylans, indigestible structural carbohydrates in plant cell walls, for improved access to gluten peptides.
