What is L-Metionina?

L-Metionina is an L-methionine supplement that is produced in accordance with high quality standards. L-methionine is a sulfur-containing amino acid, thus defined due to its sulfur content.

Use and mechanism of action

The primary function of amino acids is to combine together to form proteins, which are nutrients needed for the structure and function of a whole series of elements that are crucial for our bodies, such as skin, muscles, blood components, hormones, internal organs, hair and nails. Amino acids are also crucial for all those biological processes responsible for our body’s well-being, such as the digestion, absorption and transport of nutrients following meals; immune defences, growth, development and reproduction.
L-methionine in particular, is part of a group of substances known as “lipotropic” as they assist the liver in its lipid (fat) metabolising function. This sulfur-rich amino acid appears to be involved in those processes that lead to elimination of substances that are harmful to the body. Some studies have shown its involvement in the elimination of heavy metals. It is also a structural element of glutathione peroxidase, a key protein with antioxidant properties that is active in systems that help the body counteract the effect of free radicals.

RECOMMENDATION: 1 capsule daily with a large glass of water, preferably away from meals.
