A clinical study conducted by Moroccan researchers on the potential beneficial effects of argan oil for skin health, were tested in a group of 60 postmenopausal women, not following hormone replacement therapy, who were asked to apply 240 mg / day (2 mg / cm²) of dry oil based on argan oil, corresponding to about 10 drops, to the volar region of the left forearm, avoiding spreading any other cosmetic in that area.
To evaluate the ability of argan oil to improve skin elasticity, the following parameters were measured: R2 (overall elasticity); R5 (net elasticity) and R7 (biological elasticity) and the RRT (resonance running time) to the volar region of the left and right forearm before the start of treatment and after 30 and 60 days.
Factors R2, R5 and R7 are directly proportional to the elasticity of the skin, while RRT is inversely proportional. On the right arm of the women treated with olive oil, no significant variation of the above parameters was measured while on the left arm, where Argan oil was instead applied, important variations of the factors R2, R5, were revealed. R7 and RRT.
After 60 days of treatment, a significant improvement in skin elasticity can be measured through a significant increase in the factors R2, R5 and R7 and a decrease in RRT.
