YAMAMOTO® NUTRITION
Hydra-ELITE Neil Hill Approved - Food supplement with sweetener

Hydra ELITE is a food supplement containing plant extracts, taurine and glutamine peptide. The presence of zinc contributes to normal protein synthesis, normal metabolism of carbohydrates, fatty acids and vitamin A. Chlorine contributes to normal digestion through the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

Any athlete knows the importance of keeping the body properly hydrated for maximum performance, metabolic health and muscle growth.

Water within our bodies has specific vital roles:

  • Cell volume regulator (a hydrated cell is a healthy and efficient cell);
  • Solvent in myriad metabolic reactions
  • Regulator of body temperature (thermoregulation)
  • Transport of nutrients
  • Expels metabolic waste
  • Lubricating agent for organs and anatomical districts.

Whatever the sporting activity, whether more or less intense, the maintenance of physiological processes and thermoregulation in particular, leads to a very significant loss of liquids, which can compromise the efficiency of a performance and even seriously affect the health of the athlete.

One of the most important balancing factors on which every athlete must concentrate is maintaining an adequate water supply correlated with a correct balance of electrolytes, because 'water' alone is not enough. The fundamental presence of electrolytes is needed.

A great deal of scientific evidence, together with confirmed clinical literature, shows that dehydration is a determining cause of negative effects on performance, greatly increasing fatigue and affecting lucidity and cognitive capacity. All this is emphasised considerably if you are in a hot or cold environment. For performance to be impaired, particularly in terms of aerobic/muscular endurance, the threshold of fluid loss is 2% of initial body mass. When this threshold is exceeded, the main physiological changes that can be observed are an increase in core temperature, an increase in heart rate due to reduced circulating blood volume, increased glycogen consumption, and altered metabolic and nervous functions. Thresholds as low as 4% or 5-6% determine not only the onset of cramps, but the risk of compromising the athlete's health, with the possible occurrence of collapse or even serious cardiovascular accidents. With regard to anaerobic performance, recent scientific work indicates that dehydration may alter muscular contractile capacities and promote faster fatigue.

In this respect, in the context of body building, it is essential to remember a biochemical dogma that 'a hydrated cell is a healthy, efficient and anabolic cell'. A dehydrated cell loses functionality and is in a 'catabolic' state.

Maintaining proper cellular hydration means encouraging greater cell volume, thus activating more of an environment for protein synthesis and counteracting the catabolism of muscle proteins. In order to promote the entry of water into the cell and thus increase its volume, we need osmolytes, molecules (electrolytes) which 'drag' it into the cell, particularly elements such as sodium, magnesium and potassium, but also chlorine, calcium and phosphorus. Sodium is a determining factor in maintaining plasma volume (just try training in sodium depletion and notice how little blood reaches the muscles....), while magnesium, present in various chemical reactions, enables the sodium-potassium pump to function properly, where sodium leaves the cellular environment while potassium enters the cell, keeping it hydrated and making it efficient in its physiological functions.

After performance or training, one of the first priority factors is the restoration of electrolytes lost through thermoregulation, to be combined with the presence of those nutrients that are essential for recovery, without forgetting that with an adequate state of hydration you also promote nervous recovery, i.e. facilitating the transition from the activated sympathetic nervous system ("fight or flight"), to its deactivation, favouring the intervention of the parasympathetic nervous system, the state that facilitates recovery, healing, digestion, and rest.

"For me, as a top trainer, hydration maintenance products are critical to everything from training performance to recovery and the overall well-being of any athlete, which is why, in collaboration with Yamamoto® Nutrition's R&D department, I was keen to include Hydra ELITE.

Neil "Yoda" Hill

Hydra ELITE, part of the new "Neil Hill Approved" series, was created to support the needs of every athlete who needs to stay hydrated, even several times a day, so that all the electrolytes, amino acids and antioxidants can support all the physiological processes that bring our bodies to peak performance, especially in the post-recovery phases.
Hydra ELITE is not a "simple supplement" of classic minerals, but offers much more to support the physiological processes that an athlete needs to stay hydrated and efficient, in a more complete and effective way.

Hydra ELITE not only provides magnesium and potassium in citrated form (present), but is characterised by the highly bioavailable electrolyte component provided by dehydrated coconut water, whose thirst-quenching effect is already well known, providing a series of precious elements for the ideo-saline restoration of the body subjected to intense work and perspiration. Added to this pleasant drink is the presence of chlorides and zinc, which are particularly depleted after intense sweating from prolonged exertion or at high or very low temperatures.
Hydra ELITE also contains two amino acids that are very important for maintaining physiological cell hydration: Alani-l-glutamine, a dipeptide version of L-glutamine with a higher soluble capacity and significantly better absorption, and L-Taurine, as well as the prestigious Spectra™ blend.

Spectra™ is a blend based on natural extracts obtained exclusively from fruit and vegetables, which proves to be a new element in supporting the antioxidant health of the body. After intense training, the body finds itself with a drastic increase in oxidative stress and the flood of free radicals which, in excessive amounts, can slow down recovery, promote a less efficient immune system and greater susceptibility to trauma. This natural 'pool' of elements, as well as demonstrating an important reduction in free radicals, promotes an increase in oxygen consumption at cellular level and by the mitochondria, improving the concentration of extracellular H2O2, and decreasing the magnitude of the inflammatory response induced by TNFα, as well as improving conditions relating to vasodilation (essential for oxygenation of tissues with blood rich in oxygen and nutrients and for removal of metabolic waste products) thanks to an increase in nitric oxide levels.
