AKU has for most of its shoes the exclusive outsoles designed together with Vibram®, for both the specific design and shape of the outsole as well as for the composition of the rubber which it is made with, thought for the specific needs and the different use of the shoes.
GORE-TEX®
GORE-TEX® Footwear is a breathable, microporous yet completely waterproof membrane. This is achieved by virtue of the fact that each of its pores is 700 times bigger than a molecule of water vapour but 20.000 times smaller than the smallest possible drop of water. Its chemical and physical qualities remain unchanged through time and render GORE-TEX® Footwear bio-compatible and immune to chemical and acid attacks. The GORE-TEX® Footwear with XCR® fabric is W.L.Gore's newest technology. It is developed due to the high demand of an extremely breathable and durable garment GORE-TEX® Footwear with XCR® fabric is built into everyday shoes and outdoor activity boots, making them totally waterproof while keeping feet cool and dry.
Internal Midsole System
AKU has developed the IMS technology to offer superior comfort with maximum performance. Thanks to this exclusive system, the foot is in direct contact with the mouldable surface of the internal midsole rather than the hard surface of the lasting board. IMS takes a dynamic copy of the foot, which enables movement within the shoe to be minimised, thus reducing friction and abrasion. These features allow the wearer to react quickly and efficiently to unpredicatable changes in terrain.
