Amino acids are the building blocks of one of the most important nutrients in human nutrition, proteins. These are molecules present throughout the body and with many important functions. The body is able to produce a certain number of amino acids which are therefore "non-essential", while others can not be produced and are therefore defined as "essential and are supplied by food. Of all the amino acids present in nature, only 20 participate in the formation of proteins. Amino acids are of vital importance for metabolic functions such as digestion, liver function or wound healing. They are also indispensable for the health of the skin, ligaments, muscles, tendons, internal organs, glands, hair and nails.
