What is E400?

E 400 is a vitamin E (D-alpha-tocopherol) supplement that is obtained from GMO-free soy oil and sunflower oil.

Use and mechanism of action

There are different forms of vitamin E (α, β, γ, δ). The most potent and biologically active form, alpha (α), is also the most prevalent form of natural vitamin E.
A key characteristic, if we consider that only the natural forms of vitamin E, prefixed with D- (e.g. D-alpha-tocopherol), are recognised by our body, unlike the synthetic forms prefixed with DL- e.g. (DL-alpha-tocopherol).
Antioxidant is the key word to be attributed to vitamin E, by virtue of its amazing ability to wipe out free radicals and regenerate other types of antioxidants. Vitamin E has a broad spectrum of action: by protecting cell structures, fatty acids and LDL cholesterol from oxidative damage, it helps prevent cardiovascular nervous system function disorders.
Recent studies have, on the other hand, shown that use of this vitamin could also be beneficial in treating menopause-related conditions and in supporting fetal development during pregnancy.
Lastly, it has been identified that altered intestinal absorption of dietary fat predisposes to incorrect absorption of vitamin E and thus to likely vitamin E deficiency.
It can have a synergistic effect when taken combination with selenium.

RECOMMENDATION: 1 capsule daily, with a large glass of water, preferably at mealtimes.
